One of the most unusual Bambusas, it has bright yellow stripes alternating on each side of the culm from one internode (cane section) to the next.  It has an erect growth form with attractive foliage.  It can be used as a stand alone ornamental or an elegant hedge or privacy screen.  (see other ornamental bamboo plants)
